Matteo, I must compliment you on the beauty and originality of the furnishings at SoprArno Suites. Tell me why, as a successful lawyer, you decided to venture into the tourism industry by opening this bed and breakfast.

I confess that the idea came from my partner, theArchitect Francesco Maestrelli, who already runs a splendid bed & breakfast on the hills of Florence. Her story was one of the driving forces that made me decide to embark on this new adventure, which is engaging above all for the direct relationships you have with people. Even in the legal profession, you're in constant contact with people... the difference, I'd say, is that a lawyer's clients often aren't in positive situations; here, on the contrary, people are on vacation, usually with a more peaceful spirit... more open to new things.

At first, I was a little worried about opening SoprArno Suites because, in addition to my job, I have a shop with my wife, Betty Soldi, which is very busy. So, when Francesco told me about the bed & breakfast, my first response was, "No” which I quickly retracted with a: “OK, let's do it; only if there are no obstacles in the paperwork, permits, construction, etc.”. Fortune smiled on us, and here we are.

When did you open SoprArno Suites?

It was August 25, 2014… Obviously, we had already started working on the promotion and had already identified our collaborators. In this too, I can confess, we had intuition and luck: Leonardo, our manager, is a serious professional, a kind person, speaks four languages, and his manner immediately puts you at ease. As do the girls who come to keep the accommodations tidy. SoprArno Suites: they are discreet, helpful people who are always attentive to customer needs.

…and when did the first customer arrive..??

Thanks to booking.com and new technologies, in about ten days, SoprArno Suites It started to get lively. It was September 4, 2014, and the first guest had a great time; he gave us many compliments, which obviously boosted our morale... and also made us very flattered. September was an exceptional month: we were fully booked on 87% of the month, even though the facility had only been open for a few days. Since then, our energy and passion have increased exponentially, and my initial doubts are nothing but a distant memory.

Entering SoprArno Suites you'll experience a very intimate atmosphere, a sense of home...obviously, a beautiful home furnished with care, style, and passion.

Thank you... our intention was precisely to create a homey yet cosmopolitan atmosphere, reflecting our guests' tastes, where they can find something personal, even in the furnishings... something they can identify with. So, for example, we decided to create a bookcase with a variety of objects, such as old vinyl records: an object very close to our target audience, who are almost all over 35.

When guests arrive: what do they say? What do you think their impressions are?

The feedback so far, fortunately, has been consistently positive... Our photographer was certainly good at capturing the spaciousness and brightness of the spaces, which, however, evoke much deeper emotions in person. The people who come here are on vacation, and they're naturally inclined to relax, be enthusiastic, meet new people, and, as I mentioned before, take things lightly. This is definitely one of the aspects I enjoy most about this job: seeing people feel good, and if they have a small problem (finding a taxi, changing currency, solving problems with plane tickets or luggage, etc.), I do everything I can to help them resolve any inconvenience so their vacation doesn't suffer any setbacks.

I notice you've put a lot of thought into the spaces and furnishings: not only in the private areas, but also in the shared spaces... and this latter aspect is certainly a feature that truly encourages conviviality and interaction among guests.

We started from the idea that when you're traveling, besides wanting to discover new things, you're more inclined to meet new people. So, why not create a shared environment, giving people the opportunity to meet, get to know each other, and... why not, chat in a welcoming, well-kept, and comfortable space? For example, to foster conviviality, breakfast is served on antique tables, where the space is shared.

For guests who, due to their personalities, desire a little privacy and seclusion (referring to breakfast), we offer smaller tables where you can sit alone and enjoy a moment of relaxation before starting a new day. Our goal is to make people feel good, experience pleasant moments, and create lasting memories.

How were the rooms conceived?

The rooms, ranging from 20 to 40 square meters, all have a small living area, where for the comfort and relaxation of our guests we have provided everything necessary for a pleasant stay, such as a mini-bar, kettle (for tea, coffee, etc.), TV, Wi-Fi, and more. The basic concept is always the same: to ensure our guests feel comfortable and at ease during their stay with us.

In our rooms, we've created a warm yet comfortable, practical, and functional atmosphere; in short, a place that offers a true break from everyday life, an unforgettable moment of your trip to share with yourself or your travel companion.
